Introduction to the course
Delivered over 6 months, with one weekend per month, the course offers a structured and reflective space for qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and clinicians who already have a core clinical training and want to develop confidence in adapting their practice for children and young people. The course is created to sit within the BACP CYP competencies.

Andrea is a qualified therapist working with both individuals and children.
She brings a wealth of clinical experience to her practice, including working within the NHS, providing therapeutic support for children and young people.
This background has given her a strong understanding of safeguarding, multidisciplinary working, and the complexities of therapeutic work within organisational settings.
Course aims
By the end of the CPD series, participants should be able to:
Adapt existing counselling knowledge and skills for children and young people.
Understand how child development, attachment, culture, neurodiversity and context influence therapeutic engagement.
Use developmentally appropriate language, contracting and communication.
Understand key ethical, safeguarding and legal issues in CYP work.
Work more confidently with parents, carers and wider systems while holding the child or young person at the centre.
Use introductory creative, play-based, sand tray, narrative and bibliotherapy-informed
